Keepers clubs are student led peer support within educational institutions. These clubs are active in educating the community of teen / young adult suicide risks, signs, and prevention of self-harming and suicide. These groups are the lifeline between their peers and professional help by breaking down the walls of stigma put up by society. These Keepers support their peers throughout the process and to recovery. We are proud that at the educational institutions with active clubs we have been able to reduce suicide rates to 0 and work hard to continue that statistic.
Keepers are trained in peer leadership and the importance of confidentiality. These young adults are essential in saving lives in their communities. They are guided in learning self confidence and becoming a valuable member of a team. Our Keepers become essential members of their communities and carry on with their work post high school graduation.
In January of 2021 the CDC and the U.S. Surgeon General put out a Call To Action to Reduce Suicide. We were pleased to learn that Jared's Keepers Foundation, Inc and the Keepers Clubs have been meeting and exceeding 5 of the 7 standards set out by both.
Jared's Keepers Foundation offers free training to schools and members of the community. Volunteer leaders within the foundation participate in a variety of cooperative learning initiatives to bring the best of practices forward to reach the teen population successfully. We provide training for Law Enforcement, Fire Departments, EMS, Schools, Church groups, community groups, and peer leadership.
Jared's Keepers Foundation stays very involved in communities around the world. Keepers participate in Red Out Nights at sporting events, suicide prevention walks, remembrance events, legislation consultations, parades, community fairs and other activities to provide information and assistance.
